§ 01 · The Landscape

Every woman on
your campus knows the route
she doesn't walk alone.

Not because the campus is unsafe on paper. Because every woman has the same calculation running in her head: am I being dramatic, or am I being careful?

§ 02 · Why Current Solutions Fall Short

The campus has already spent
millions on safety.

Blue lights. Escort services. Emergency apps. Every campus has them. Almost no student uses them. Here's why.

[ SOS phone illustration ]
Emergency-only apps
LiveSafe. Rave Guardian. Designed for the moment something goes wrong. Women don't open apps in crisis. They text a friend.
Avg. Usage: < 2 mins/month
[ Blue light posts illustration ]
Blue lights & call boxes
A 1990s solution to a 2026 problem. Students walk past them every day and couldn't tell you where the nearest one is.
Utilization: near zero in 80% of campuses
[ Escort wait illustration ]
Campus escort services
Small team. Long waits. Students don't want to feel like they're 'making a thing of it.' So they just walk.
Feels like last resort, not first choice
§ 03 · The Insight
• home safe? 2:14 AM
2:17 AM made it ✨

Women already
have a safety system.
It just runs on group texts.

Every night, millions of texts fly across campus:
'home safe?' 'made it.' 'call me when you're there.'
That's not a gap — that's infrastructure.

§ 04 · The Product

Austin, TX · Founder · sidexside
§ 10 · The Founder

Built by a woman who lived it.

'Every woman I know has a version of the same story. I built sidexside because it's just how things are isn't an answer. It's a design flaw.'

Kaylyn Waycaster is the founder of sidexside. She built the first version while she was still a college student in Texas. Today she runs sidexside full-time from Austin, trains every campus ambassador personally, and takes every partnership call herself.

§ 11 · Risk & Reversal

The questions every
decision-maker asks.

The honest ones. If yours aren't here, Kaylyn will answer them on the call.

What happens to student data? Who owns it?
+
The student owns their data. FERPA-aligned DPA. Location data purged after 24 hours.
How is this different from LiveSafe or Rave Guardian?
+
Those are emergency-call apps for when things go wrong. sidexside is the everyday network for what women already do — proactive, peer-to-peer, and used daily rather than once in a crisis.
Why women-only? Is that legally defensible?
+
Yes. sidexside operates as a private, voluntary community under Title IX's affirmative-support exceptions for at-risk populations. We have legal review on file for every partner institution.
What does our Title IX office actually have to do?
+
Very little. Sign the partnership, plug us into orientation, and receive quarterly reports. Everything else is handled by sidexside HQ and campus ambassadors.
If the pilot doesn't work, what happens?
+
We walk away. No auto-renewal, no lock-in. You keep all pilot data and reports for your own records.
